Educational trip in south Mumbai

South Mumbai, one of the nicer places to see in Mumbai, a place full of history, was the point of the Educational trip (as our guide called it) of the week.

The starting point of the trip was in Churchgate and was where we (my new roommate, Sidrah and myself) met our Mumbai expert guide: Neville!

After 3 months and after visiting a couple of times the south of Mumbai, finally I had someone to tell me what are all those nice buildings.

We’ve been to the Prince of Wales museum of Western India or Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya as it was renamed.

The Prince of Wales Museum of Western India is one of the best-known Museums of the Country. This magnificent heritage building, situated on the famous ‘Crescent Site’ on the way to the Gateway of India, is a landmark of south Mumbai. Architecturally it is an exquisite example of the Indo-Saracenic style, popular in India during the early part of this century. It was designed as a museum by the architect George Wittet in 1909. It was opened for public in 1922 mainly with the collections acquired by the Trustees and the Sir Ratan Tata bequest. The collections have swelled since then and today the museum has expanded into various sections, including the Maritime Heritage gallery, the first of its kind in India.

The funny part of the visit was that I’ve been wearing Indian cloths in order to don’t be charged as a foreigner and nobody notice it :D

The trip was really incredible! Museum, Gateway of India, Taj, Marine drive or Queen’s neck glass, 5 Spice.

Sugar cane juice from the street, sweets and banana cake from the greatest bakery in Mumbai, Neville, please help me with the name :D , a delicious Chinese food and a desert that tasted like Heaven.

All in one day! Like we, the Latins, say, thousand of thanks for the trip Neville!!!

Tired? Noooo!

On Thursday on FRRO (Foigners Registration Regional Office) when I was waiting for the fax with the official agreement of from the Embassy of India in Romania for can change my X visa type into a Business visa, I was writing a post about how tired I am about India, especially of the India’s legislation – most of the time the laws are senseless and out of the blue and the things are moving sooo slooooooow….

But, I could publish that post because even if I got mad 2 days in FRRO after one and a half mounths trying to register, getting more that 40 phone calls to the Embassy of India in Romania, there are a ot more things to discover and enjoy here that don’t let me say that I’m tired of India.

In Churchgate (which is in south of Mumbai), near FRRO office, there is a man that is doing very nice bracelets like this:Colaba1 035I discovered him on Monday, and today I had time and batteries to record him. Here is the movie:
